I am a Latter-day Saint.
A disciple of Jesus Christ.
A Christian.
Some say Latter-day Saints aren’t Christians.
But that claim only works if you ignore the first Christians.
“The disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.”
So what did those Christians actually believe?
Exercise true Faith
Repent.
Be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ.
Receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
That was Christianity—before creeds.
Before councils.
Before centuries of philosophical debate tried to define God using the language of men.
The earliest Christians didn’t rely on inherited theology shaped by thinkers like Augustine of Hippo or influenced by Platonism.
They followed Jesus Christ.
And at the center of their faith:
• Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of the Living God (Matthew 16:16)
• His Father is our Father, and His God is our God (John 20:17)
• He died and rose again, breaking death for all (1 Corinthians 15:22)
That is the faith I believe.
That is the faith Latter-day Saints believe.
So if those beliefs defined the first Christians…
Then maybe the question isn’t whether we are Christian.
Maybe the question is—
how far has the definition drifted?
